Volunteers create the backbone of Bayshore Christian Ministries and fuel the success of its mission for youth from East Palo Alto and Belle Haven. In a highly-relational environment, hundreds of volunteers every year provide spiritual and academic support to young people, as well as take pictures, serve as board members and donate meals for programs. Check out opportunities below, and join us in helping students gain hope and a future.

Volunteer

We spread the love of God in all sorts of ways, whether it is by teaching the Bible, providing food or supporting families through difficult times like COVID. I have loved being part of BCM for 6 years and can’t wait for many more to come!

Summer

1. Classroom support for KidSmart Bridge and CREATE Summer (June 29-July 31) Assist Classroom Leaders in our academic program KidSmart Bridge or STEAM program CREATE Summer, in the morning. Lead an enriching or educational activity (like creative story telling or snap circuits) for KidSmart Bridge students in the afternoons.

2. Drivers who pick up lunches for KidSmart Bridge and CREATE Summer To reduce exposure, lunches for these two programs will be provided by Samaritan House, a food distribution agency in San Mateo. Pick up lunches at 11am and drive them to BCM. Volunteers are invited to stay and help distribute the meals.

3. VBS Volunteer leaders Help lead games, songs, and lessons in small groups of elementary school students. High school students are welcome to apply.

4. Volunteers who make youth face masks As part of BCM’s plan to keep people safe, adults and students who are part of in-person programs will be required to wear face masks. Make face masks for elementary age and middle school age students by June 26.  Masks can be in a variety of patterns/colors but need to be made for youth faces.

5. Other support Provide graphic design support or perform admin tasks for areas, such as accounting, development or programs (need varies).

BCM's Summer 2020 programs include new COVID-19 safety guidelines.
