Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Partner Development
Schedule: Part-time non-exempt, 30 hours per week, includes some weekends and evenings
Compensation: $12-13/hr DOE; partial medical benefits

MISSION
Bayshore Christian Ministries equips East-of-Bayshore youth to grow spiritually, gain life skills and develop as leaders so that they have hope and a future.

Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is a role responsible for recruiting, equipping and leading BCM’s program and professional skills volunteers. He/she is also responsible for coordinating volunteer experiences for groups when applicable. Volunteers are a critical part of our team at BCM, enabling us to serve the youth of our community. As such, we are committed to seeing our volunteers grow personally and spiritually as they serve. Working closely with the Director of Partner Development, the Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that our volunteers are growing and serving effectively.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES will include but not be limited to:

Volunteer Leadership:
• Strategically recruit volunteers through networking, online methods and in person engagements.
• Oversee intake process of volunteers including application, orientation and program placement.
• Coordinate volunteer training events to equip and encourage volunteers in their service.
• Proactively build relationships with volunteers as it pertains to their role at BCM.
• Coordinate with BCM parents to engage them in service and fulfill their required volunteer hours.
• Communicate key dates and information to the volunteer team through regular communication.
• Lead monthly volunteer orientations for new volunteers.
• Oversee volunteer survey process to identify volunteer growth and enhance their experience.

Work in partnership with other BCM staff:
• Provide regular reports to fellow staff and supervisor(s).
• Be actively involved in organization-wide activities (ie staff retreats, Open House, etc).


REQUIRED Qualifications
• Desire to work in a Christian, youth-serving organization.
• Commitment to the mission of the organization and agreement with the Statement of Faith.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point and email.

PREFERRED Qualifications
• Administrative experience
• Bilingual (Spanish)
• College degree
